“He replied, ‘My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.’” → Luke 8:21

Jesus wants us to hear His word and obey, to find the right way to live our lives. What do you hear the Lord saying to you?

Dad, practice makes permanent. Or so I teach my sons this mode of thinking. In reflection of my own actions I must awaken from the slumber that is preventing me from hearing You - and responding. It has been easier to dull my spirit to avoid the pains of growing in You. It is more palatable to look away from the mirror that would reveal all that I am and challenge me to repent. Contrition doesn’t go well with my shoes.

I hear you nudging me back to the world vision You planted in me ten years ago. I see Your finger pointing to the things in my life that I worship over You. I know you are waiting for me to return home. I’m ready, Dad. I’m ready to come back home to be reminded of Your true love for me just before You send me back out into the world to make the difference You intended. Amen.
